Lorrie Jones Gore, general manager and an owner of Gundlach Plumbing and Heating Co., Richmond, Va., was honored as the 2011 PHCC “HVAC Contractor of the Year” during CONNECT 2011, the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association’s (PHCC) annual conference in Minneapolis, Minn.
Gundlach Plumbing and Heating Co. has been a family-run business for more than 82 years. Its slogan is “Making Friends Since 1929.” Gore was selected for the “HVAC Contractor of the Year” award based on her accomplishments in business management and HVAC practices, as well as community and trade association involvement.
Gore has been an active member of PHCC and the PHCC of Virginia for more than 25 years. A current PHCC of Virginia board member, she served as president of her local chapter in the early ‘90s.
Also, Gore has provided office space and staff assistance for a number of years to the PHCC of Virginia when state funding has been tight. Each year, Gore offers her home and the Gundlach office as staging areas for “Welcome Back to the Assembly” events that the state association hosts at the Virginia General Assembly.
She has chaired the Legislative Committee, helped to write legislation to license backflow prevention workers, and has helped to lobby for the state association since the 1980’s.
In order to be named a PHCC “HVAC Contractor of the Year” award, candidates were evaluated by a committee of PHCC members who judged accomplishments in six areas: professionalism, merchandising skills, management skills, innovative HVAC practices, trade involvement and community service.
