Shambaugh & Son builds world's largest yogurt plant for Chobani
Dec. 17, 2012
NORWALK, CONN. – Chobani Inc. has opened its new state-of-the-art Greek Yogurt plant in Twin Falls, Idaho, which is twice the size of the world’s next largest yogurt plant. Shambaugh & Son <http://www.shambaugh.com/> was the prime design/builder for the record 10-month, fast-tracked construction of the Chobani plant, and among other things performed all site infrastructure and installed all of the plant’s mechanical, electrical, ammonia refrigeration, fire protection, process equipment, process piping, and utility piping systems.
A leading facilities services and construction contractor in the Midwest, Shambaugh & Son is a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc <http://www.emcorgroup.com/>. The plant will process a record amount of yogurt per day, while consuming lower energy and production costs. Shambaugh designed and constructed the plant with infrastructure for future expansion, and with technology that enables greater flexibility and efficiency in production, all within 10 months, from site clearing to production.
“We're pleased Chobani selected Shambaugh & Son to perform the wide range of work required to construct its complex new yogurt plant, and thank them for the opportunity to do so," stated Mark Shambaugh, president and CEO, Shambaugh & Son. "Our diverse and deep experience enabled us to provide the expertise and breadth of skills required to fulfill the rigorous specifications of this project."
