General Pipe Cleaners, a division of General Wire Spring, is proud to announce that Russell Javorsky celebrated his 50th anniversary of employment with the company August 30, 2016.
Russell started at General in 1966 at the age of 17 as a graduate of South Vocational High School, located across the street from General’s former facility in the Southside of Pittsburgh. General moved to their current location in McKees Rocks, PA in 1968. Hard work and commitment to the company resulted in Russell holding a number of key leadership positions in the workforce before he was promoted to plant foreman in 1992.
Russell has played a vital role in the company’s success, including improvements in manufacturing processes and productivity. His input has been valuable in the design and development of a number of drain-cleaning machines, water jets and video pipe inspection cameras.
“People ask me how I could work at one place for so long,” commented Russell. “I tell them, when you find a good company you stick with it.” Russell considered becoming a professional bowler at one time, bowling many 300 games in his amateur bowling career.
Keenly committed to innovation and quality, General’s founder Abe Silverman initially made drain cleaning cables for local plumbers. Now 86 years later, the company serves plumbing and drain cleaning professionals everywhere with a full range of the “Toughest Drain Cleaning Tools Down The Line” – its well-known slogan.
