Loveland, Colo. — “The radiant heating and cooling industry has taken to the green theme like a duck takes to water,” said Radiant Panel Association Executive Director, Lawrence Drake. “And why not? Radiant has always been green.”

The RPA is holding its annual conference and Radiant Expo, known as REX, in Schaumburg, Ill., August 13-15. While the traditional and well-proven radiant technology will be on display, there will also be more than 20 new products in the “new product exhibit” at the show center. Alternative energy sources and high-efficiency equipment will also be on display. Improved support equipment and creative approaches to control and distribution products will be seen as well.

There are a larger number of new exhibitors than ever before touting all kinds of green technology that can be matched with radiant systems. Solar, geothermal, biomass, photovoltaic and many other exciting exhibitors have signed up. Cooling systems will also be on display.

For those who want more than a stroll through the trade show, the RPA's Green Team will be conducting a series of breakout sessions on topics on Thursday, August 14, ranging from designing for simplicity and energy efficiency to staying out of radiant trouble. John Siegenthaler (Siggy) and Robert Bean (The Bean) will lead the team with a presentation on “Green heat to the rescue.”

Robert “Hotrod” Rohr, George Royce, Mark Eatherton, Dave Yates, Jeff Persons and Peter Biondo complete the team with seminars on solar, geothermal, high efficiency boilers, electric radiant and modulating condensing boilers and more.

Siegenthaler will conduct a presentation of the RPA's new Radiant Precision course on August 13. This daylong course has been completely revised and updated.

August 15 is Industry Day. It is a time for manufacturers and suppliers to present their wares outside the trade show floor in a classroom setting.

The conference will close Friday evening with an awards dinner. This event celebrates some of the best projects of the year and the contractors who built them with awards to those who have qualified through the RPA's System Showcase competition.
