RALEIGH, N.C. — Shane St. Pierre, an ARS/Rescue Rooter HVAC technician, received a Chief’s Citation from the Raleigh Police Department in mid-October for his role in helping an injured police officer subdue a combative man.
While on a service call on the morning of July 31, 2013, St. Pierre witnessed several people running out of a local apartment complex building claiming that a man was inside throwing rocks and bricks. Still standing outside the commotion, he saw the man strike the officer with a brick multiple times. When he noticed that the officer was having difficulty subduing the man, St. Pierre immediately sprang into action and aided the injured officer as well as a second officer that arrived on the scene shortly after.
“Shane acted without hesitation to assist the officers in the apprehension of the suspect. His assistance clearly played a role in making it possible to restrain the suspect and limit injuries to all involved,” said Police Chief Cassandra L. Deck-Brown. “I, along with the officers of the Raleigh Police Department, applaud his willingness to take action.”
ARS/Rescue Rooter of Raleigh General Manager Mike Smith added, “Shane exemplifies the strong fortitude of character that ARS / Rescue Rooter looks for in employees. We could not be more proud of him.”
