Goettl Good Guys Air Conditioning Repairmen and The Sunny Plumber recently announced the results of a campaign to collect water donations for those in need in the Phoenix area.
PHOENIX – Goettl Good Guys Air Conditioning Repairmen and The Sunny Plumber recently announced the results of a campaign to collect water donations for those in need in the Phoenix area. The heating and air conditioning and plumbing companies contributed 2,150 cases of water to the Salvation Army in response to Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton’s call for water supplies this summer.

Mayor Stanton challenged employers and individuals to donate water supplies to benefit the homeless, individuals with disabilities, homebound seniors, young people and families in need.  To encourage community support, Goettl Good Guys and The Sunny Plumber launched a three week campaign to match all donations collected at the Goettl Good Guys Tempe office.

“Phoenix is one of the hottest places on earth from June to September,” Stanton said. “Each summer, hundreds of people in Arizona can end up in hospitals due to heat-related illnesses. Hydration is critical for those outside, that's why our friends at Goettl truly are 'good guys!' This donation will undoubtedly save lives, and I encourage other Arizona companies take note and rise to the challenge.”

A number of Phoenix-area businesses and individuals contributed to the campaign, including: Auto Safety House, TAG Employer Services, Tim Cunningham, Enterprise Fleet Management, LD Schneider & Associates, Valleywide Recyclers, Hercules Industries, Ferguson Plumbing, The Plumbers Choice, Goodman AC, Peoria Ford, Air Cold Supply and several trade partner donors who wish to remain anonymous. All donations were matched by Goettl Good Guys and The Sunny Plumber.

The campaign resulted in a total of 2,150 donated cases of water, which were accepted at the Salvation Army by Jodi Liggett, Senior Policy Adviser on Homelessness for Mayor Stanton.

“We are absolutely thrilled about the amazing work that Goettl Good Guys and The Sunny Plumber have done for the City of Phoenix,” said Liggett. “These companies have demonstrated what true community service is all about, and their generosity will make the summer heat more bearable for thousands of Arizonans.”

The donation matching campaign is one of many efforts initiated by the two companies to serve the community and acknowledge shining examples of outstanding citizenship. To continue charitable outreach this summer, the companies are also planning a large-scale donation of hats to the Salvation Army. This donation will also provide relief from the sun and heat for those in need this summer.

“This new partnership with Mayor Stanton’s office and the Salvation Army is a perfect fit for Goettl and The Sunny Plumber,” said Kenneth D. Goodrich, managing partner of Phoenix Peach LLC, which owns the two companies. “As HVAC and plumbing experts, it’s our job to protect people from Arizona’s extreme temperatures and we’re happy to do so in any way possible.”

Recent community initiatives launched on behalf of Goettl Good Guys and The Sunny Plumber include a military hiring campaign and a special event at a December 2012 Arizona Cardinals game honoring Queen Creek High School students who took a stand to end bullying on the school’s campus.
