WASHINGTON, DC — In preparation for this year’s Building Safety Month, the International Code Council recently launched a new website dedicated to the annual event. The Code Council and its members and partners lead the Building Safety Month campaign every May to raise awareness about the importance of building codes and the role of building safety professionals in ensuring our communities remain safe, sustainable and resilient. This year’s campaign will cover a wide range of topics including energy and innovation, building safety careers, water safety and disaster preparedness.
Visitors to the Building Safety Month website can get involved in the campaign and use the available resources to support this year’s theme “Safety for All: Building Codes in Action.” Nations, municipalities, cities, and territories around the world are encouraged to submit a proclamation declaring their official recognition of Building Safety Month.
“Building Safety Month gives us the chance to celebrate the building safety community and educate people around the world about the importance of building codes,” said Cindy Davis, CBO, President of the ICC Board of Directors. “This campaign creates an opportunity for individuals to engage with their local communities to reinforce the need for adopting modern, regularly-updated building codes and help others understand what it takes to create safe and sustainable structures.”
