New England Mechanical Services Inc. has hired Matthew Mullen as engineering consultant and business development manager for NEMSI in Connecticut, Maryland, Rhode Island, Vermont and New Hampshire as well as all of Consolidated Engineering’s other affiliated companies in the Northeast. Formerly, he was a vice president with Janazzo Energy Services. Rod Dapkins has been promoted to vice president and general manager. Previously, Dapkins served as general manager for the company’s Fairfield County office. NEMSI also recently honored seven employees for their years of service: Ray Regini, a service project manager has been with the company for 20 years; Jeff Neville started with the company 15 years ago, and now serves as field service supervisor; Carol Findlay, a service supervisor, has also been with the company 15 years; Cal Yost also celebrates 15 years with the company, currently serving as an operations supervisor; Stanley Pratson completed his 20th year with the company in May, serving most recently as superintendent of the construction group; Jeff Hollingswork, service technician with the company’s New London office has been with the company for 15 years; and Rich Macierowski, a construction sales engineer, has been with the company for 24 years. And service technician Rich Mulligan has received the company’s highest award for excellence, Employee of the Year for 2001.

Chris Burlaka has been named controller for Marlin Mechanical Corp., Phoenix.

The Union-Affiliated Contractors elected its new 2002 leadership at a recent Unity meeting. Buddy Parkes, Parkes Mechanical and Metals, Muscle Shoals, Ala., was elected chair. Karl Bykowski, John W. Danforth Co., Buffalo, N.Y., was elected vice chair. They will each serve one-year terms.

Encompass Mechanical Services - Central Florida, Orlando, appointed David E. Westrich

director of construction services. He had been global program manager and project executive for Honeywell International’s Industrial Infrastructure Solutions.

ServiceMaster Co. has combined the offices of CEO and chairman and elected Jonathan P. Ward to be chairman of the board. He succeeds William C. Pollard who has been chairman of the board since 1990. ServiceMaster owns American Residential Services, American Mechanical Services and Rescue Rooter. Mark Burel has been appointed president of American Residential Services, replacing William LeBaron, who is leaving to pursue other interests. Burel was previously vice president of ServiceMaster Consumer Services.

Stephen Brockman and apprentice Ken Stevens of Expert Plumbing, Naperville, Ill., received recognition from Associated Builders and Contractors for their contributions of time and materials to the Habitat for Humanity project in Elgin, Ill.

The Mechanical Contractors Association of North Central Wisconsin at its annual meeting elected the following officers: president, William Bassett, Bassett Mechanical, Appleton; vice president, Alan Dvorak, Aldag/Honald Mechanical, Sheboygan; secretary/ and treasurer, Mike Sturdivant, Tweet/ Garot Mechanical, Green Bay. Also elected were board members James Beno, Beno Plumbing, Green Bay; Robert Fischer, J.F. Ahern Co., Fond du Lac; Mark Loper, AZCO, Appleton; Gary Martin, August Winter & Sons, Appleton; Dean Reinke, Hurckman Mechanical, Green Bay; Rick Kampo, R.J. Kampo Plumbing & Heating, Appleton; Don Tennie, E.G.I. Mechanical Contractors, Greenville; and John Olson, Paul Van Zeeland Heating, Little Chute.

Manufacturers

Brass Craft has appointed Todd Talbot as company president. He was most recently the president of Alsons Corp. Both are divisions of Masco.

Peter Warren was named president of Swan Corp. He succeeds his father-in-law, the late Jack Moore, founder of the company. Warren joined Swan in 1998 and most recently was executive vice president. Lori Werner has been named customer service manager.

John F. Malloy has been named president and chief operating officer of Victaulic Co., as well as being elected to the company’s board of directors. Previously, Malloy was president of North American HVAC for Carrier. Joseph M. Trachtenberg will continue to serve as company chairman and CEO. Jim Renner has been appointed director of marketing for Victaulic.
