ROUND ROCK, TEXAS — American Plumbing & Mechanical has promoted Lloyd Smith to president and COO/multifamily operations. Smith, who was previously president/HVAC operations, assumed his new responsibilities immediately.

Smith began his HVAC career in 1967 with Lindy Dennis Industries as an apprentice. He was promoted to foreman, division manager and later president. He purchased the company in 1985. Smith’s sons, Mike and Robert, are both executives within the HVAC organization.

In February 2000, Smith’s company, LDI Mechanical, was acquired by AMPAM. Since that time he has served as president of AMPAM LDI and assumed national responsibility for HVAC operations in January 2001 when he was named vice president/HVAC of AMPAM. He became president/HVAC operations last August.

In his new role, Smith’s responsibilities will continue to include all HVAC locations, including single-family. He will oversee 20 locations that generate more than $175 million in annual revenues and employ about 1,600 people.

Robert Christianson, chairman and CEO of AMPAM, said: “Lloyd is a workhorse and one of the most respected figures within the industry. His credibility with customers, vendors and employees will be valuable in both new and existing markets.”
