FALLS CHURCH, VA. — The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors – National Association has announced that Kevin Schwalb has joined its staff as director of government relations. Schwalb brings to the position a background in both the federal government and construction-related trade associations.
Schwalb comes to PHCC from the Department of Labor, Office of the Secretary, where he served as director for the Office of Public Liaison. In this position he was responsible for stakeholder outreach, including but not limited to leaders in the business and union communities.
Prior to that, he served as director of legislative and regulatory affairs for the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association. Schwalb’s background also includes six years as federal legislative director for the National Association of Home Builders. He also worked as director of ACEC/PAC and Washington representative for the American Consulting Engineers Council after spending almost two years as the PAC coordinator/legislative manager for Associated Builders & Contractors.
“PHCC is very pleased to have Kevin on board to guide our government relations efforts,” said PHCC President Joe Schmitt. “He brings with him a wealth of experience in the legislative, public policy and trade association environments that is certain to be an asset to our organization.”
Schwalb succeeds Jessica Johnson Bennett, who moved to a government relations post with the Corn Growers Association.
The PHCC-National Association, formed in 1883, provides legislative advocacy, education and training to more than 4,000 plumbing and HVACR businesses and 85,000 technicians. Members of PHCC have access to a wide variety of services designed to increase their professionalism, grow their business and improve profitability.
