CAROL STREAM, IL -- With ever increasing emphasis being placed on healthy lifestyles, many people are asking: how ‘healthy’ is our home? According to the EPA, most of us spend more than 90 percent of our lives indoors, so it is worth thinking more closely about air quality and energy efficiency, especially inside the home during the winter months.

With this knowledge, Carol Stream Mayor Frank Saverino proclaimed October the first annual “Healthy Home Month” at a ribbon cutting and rededication ceremony on Wednesday, October 6. This initiative was launched by A.W.E., formerly The Air Conditioning & Heating Company, to encourage homeowners to follow simple steps to ensure thoughtful DIY maintenance steps that can save money, improve indoor air quality, and extend the lives of necessary home functions of air, water and energy.

“We embrace the change of seasons and appreciate the reminder Mother Nature provides, urging us to pay attention to the systems that operate our homes when temperatures drop and furnaces start to rumble,” said Ray Grimm, CEO of A.W.E.

Mayor Saverino and Grimm were joined by members of the Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce and State Representative Randy Ramey for the ribbon cutting and rededication ceremony to officially proclaim October “Healthy Home Month,” and to celebrate the reinvention of the 100-year-old company’s new name and expanded services. A.W.E. now offers one-call service for homeowner’s core systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical services, energy audits, air quality testing, and solar panel installation and testing.
