ONTARIO, CA — The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) has extended the deadline for applicants to serve as technical experts on the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC® ) and the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC®) task groups. The deadline to apply for both task groups has been extended to July 12.
UPC Task Groups
The UPC Technical Committee is seeking special subject experts to join the following task groups:
- Code Change Review: The scope of the UPC Code Change Review Task Group includes the review of proposals submitted as published in the 2024 UPC Report on Proposals (ROP) monograph and develop public comments for the UPC Technical Committee consideration in the development of the 2027 edition of the UPC.
- Heat Pump Water Heater: The UPC Heat Pump Water Heater Task Group will review UPC Item #075 as published in the 2024 UPC ROP monograph and develop recommendations addressing the proper installation of air-source heat pump water heaters. The recommendations will be forwarded to the UPC Technical Committee as public comment(s) for consideration in the development of the 2027 edition of the UPC.
- Water Heater: The UPC Water Heater Task Group will review UPC Item #072 as published in the 2024 UPC ROP monograph and develop recommendations addressing first-hour rating beyond Table 501.1(1) and heating capacity for water heaters utilized for combined space heating and potable water heating applications. The recommendations provided by the task group will be forwarded to the UPC Technical Committee as public comment(s) for consideration in the development of the 2027 edition of the UPC.
- Cured in Place Piping (CIPP): The CIPP Task Group will review UPC items related to CIPP as published in the 2024 UPC ROP monograph and develop recommendations. The recommendations provided by the task group will be forwarded to the UPCTechnical Committee as public comment(s) for consideration in the development of the 2027 edition of the UPC.
Task group members will participate via conference call or web meeting, provide their perspective on the code, and assist in drafting recommendations for action by the UPC Technical Committee. Applicants are not required to be members of the UPC Technical Committee.
