ONTARIO, CA – The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) is seeking volunteers to participate on the technical committee working toward the development of the 2027 edition of the Water Efficiency and Sanitation Standard (WE•Stand). The deadline to submit an application is Aug. 30.
The WE•Stand Technical Committee seeks members in the following categories: Consumer, Enforcing Authority, Design Professional, Installer/Maintainer, Labor, Manufacturer, User, and Special Expert. These committees are assembled in accordance with the Regulations Governing Consensus Development of the WE•Stand. This document may be downloaded at the following URL: https://www.iapmo.org/media/3840/regulations_for_the_consensus_development_of_the_westand.pdf
The WE•Stand provides minimum requirements to optimize water use practices attributed to the built environment while maintaining protection of the public health, safety and welfare. Increasing demand, constrained infrastructure and supplies, climate change, and pervasive droughts globally all accentuate the critical need to reduce water consumption through conservation and reuse. With this conservation, however, comes increased risks to public health, safety and building systems performance. This American National Standard provides standardized methodologies to achieve conservation without compromising safety.
In November 2017, IAPMO’s WE•Stand was published as an American National Standard, replacing the Green Plumbing and Mechanical Code Supplement. The publication of the WE•Stand is noteworthy as it is the first American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard that focuses solely on achieving safe and efficient water use in both residential and non-residential buildings.
Anyone interested in serving on this committee can complete the application online at the Code Development webpage: http://forms.iapmo.org/iapmo/committee/app_tech_committee.aspx
