This past November, Urban Outreach found itself 40 turkeys short of its goal of providing 200 Thanksgiving meal packages to residents of southeast Washington, D.C. When word reached Brian Harvey, president of H&C Heating and Cooling in Laurel, Md., he graciously donated the much needed turkeys to complete the meal packages. “We've seen first-hand the positive effect Urban Outreach has had on their community, and we were more than happy to assist them with this worthy outreach,” said Harvey.

EMCOR Group subsidiary Central Mechanical Construction has received a contract for the installation of mechanical systems at the new Critical Access Hospital for the City of Atchison, Kan. Central Mechanical will be responsible for the installation of the HVAC, sheet metal, piping and plumbing systems for the Critical Access Hospital, a 90,000-sq.ft. facility that will house 25 patient rooms, three state-of-the-art surgery suites, three intensive care/trauma suites and approximately 30,000-sq.ft. of private practice and clinical use.

The founder of the U.S. Green Building Council, David Gottfried, has completed the highest-scoring green home renovation since the LEED for Homes Rating System launched in January 2008. The home received 106.5 points out of a total 136 possible under the LEED for Homes certification program. Platinum certification is awarded to homes that earn 80 points or more. He and his family moved in in mid-August.

Franchise Times has ranked Linc Network LLC number 130 on its annual list of the country's Top 200 franchise systems. The magazine compiled the list after months of collecting sales and unit count data from more than 1,000 companies. To qualify for consideration, at least 20% of a franchise organization's total units must be operated by franchisees. Linc is up 13 spots from last year's #143 ranking.

The Southeast Pennsylvania Chapter Associated Builders and Contractors honored the top merit contractors and construction projects in the Greater Philadelphia region at its 18th Annual Merit Construction Awards of Excellence event on November 19 at the Radisson Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa. Top honors went to E. Allen Reeves, Inc. and Adams-Bickel Associates, Inc. with a tie score in the Best General Contractor Over $10 million category.
