Matco-Norca has announced the passing of Manny "Maddog" Matz who died earlier this week.
The company released a statement saying:
Manny worked with his brother, Dov Matz at Matco-Norca for many years and was an important part of the Matco-Norca team. Manny helped grow the business by traveling the world to bring in new vendors and clients. He often saw opportunity where others didn't.
Immanuel "Manny" Matz was born April 5, 1941 in Tel Aviv. At the time, Palestine, then still under British rule, was being torn apart by WWII. An Axis bomb actually fell on his family's apartment and blew apart the room next to where his mother sat, pregnant with him. His name means God is with you. He immigrated to the U.S at age 15 and lived with his family in New York City. In 1959 he met the love of his life, Bea Cohen, at Camp Cejwin in the Catskills where both were summer counselors.
He will be missed.
