The Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors (PHCC) of Georgia Academy, with the help of the U.S. Dept. of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship, has received approval to offer Heating and Air Conditioning Mechanic and Installer or HVACR eLearning course for apprentices.  This new course has been added to the Academy’s existing plumbing apprenticeship program.

PHCC GA Academy utilizes the PHCC Educational Foundation eLearning online course for Plumbing and HVACR.  E-Learning online courses were designed for apprentices who need a non-traditional method of receiving their apprentice-related instruction.  Each course is the equivalent of one year of classroom instruction. This curriculum is recognized by the US DOL, Employment & Training Administration, Office of Apprenticeship, for the related instructional portion of an apprentice training program.  The four year HVACR Apprenticeship Program gives trainees in-depth knowledge of all aspects of becoming a heating and air conditioning mechanic and installer.  On-the-job training must be coordinated with a participating employer.

The projected shortage of workers in the plumbing-heating-cooling industry is staggering. By 2022, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the industry will need approximately 138,200 new workers. In addition to high demand careers, the p-h-c industry offers high salaries. An average technician can earn more than $49,000 plus benefits. Today’s p-h-c jobs are highly technical and require a variety of skills such as analyzing and problem solving.  These jobs provide great opportunities for women. Career advancement path can take you from technician to tech-savvy CAD and BIM operators to management.

The PHCC GA Academy believes in giving interested individuals a chance to earn wages while they learn to become a skilled tradesperson, by avoiding student loans for college and by providing a nontraditional method of training.  Our goal is to attract a new generation of workers.

E-Learning enrollment is currently open for HVACR and Plumbing students.  For enrollment and pricing questions for either program, visit www.PHCCGA.org, or contact Ellen Whitaker at 678/947-3473 or [email protected]
