ICC announces that its two solar thermal standards are out for comment

WASHINGTON — The International Code Council has announced that its two solar thermal standards are out for public comment. ICC is working on separate standard for solar collectors and for solar thermal systems. The first drafts of the ICC 900/SRCC 300 Solar Thermal Systems and ICC 901/SRCC 100 Solar Thermal Collectors Draft Standards have been published for comments and all public comments are due by August 11, 2014. Interested stakeholders are invited to review the drafts and offer comments on each.

ICC and the Solar Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC) are working to develop the two solar thermal standards based on SRCC's well-known Standards 100 and 300 documents. The proposed new ANSI standards will be known as BSR/ICC 901/SRCC 100-201X Solar Thermal Collector Standard and BSR/ICC 900/SRCC 300-201X Solar Water Heating System Standard.

ICC, as an ANSI-accredited standards developer, provided notice of the intent to develop two standards through the ANSI Project Initiation Notification System (PINS), which was published in the June 22, 2012, edition of the ANSI Standards Action.

The ICC Solar Thermal Standard Consensus Committee (IS-STSC) has held four public meetings to develop the first public comments draft of the ICC 900/SRCC 300-201 Solar Thermal Systems Standard. Both of the drafts in circulation are the second drafts of the proposed standards.
