After a devastating EF5 tornado destroyed 95% of the buildings in Greensburg, Kan. on May 4, 2007, Viega announced it would help with rebuilding efforts by donating a MANABLOC homerun water distribution system for every home being rebuilt in Greensburg and the surrounding area.

Wichita, Kan. - To further solidify Viega's commitment to rebuilding Greensburg, Kan., Viega representatives gave a hands-on MANABLOC presentation on Oct. 8, 2008, to the plumbers and contractors that are helping rebuild the Kansas town.

Greensburg, located in Kiowa County, is being rebuilt because a devastating EF5 tornado destroyed 95% of the buildings here on May 4, 2007. Just three days after the tornado leveled the area, Viega announced it would help with rebuilding efforts by donating a MANABLOC homerun water distribution system for every home being rebuilt in Greensburg and the surrounding area.

Viega donated $300,000 worth of plumbing products to residents in tornado-ravaged Kiowa County. This donation will supply hot and cold water for a typical 1,200-sq.ft. home. Approximately 300 homes will receive the plumbing products. The product package includes a 24-port ViegaPEX Press MANABLOC; ½," 3/8" and 3/4" ViegaPEX tubing; and all the Viega fittings required to make the system operate.

“We can all learn from the people of Greensburg,” said Dan Schmierer, CEO of Viega. “It makes me proud to help rebuild a town that will serve as a symbol of what sustainable living in our country can look like when we all work together.”

A free MANABLOC homerun water distribution system is available to residents who sustained losses in this county. Residents can sign up for a water distribution system at the Green Sustainability Visitor Center in Greensburg.
