Charlotte, N.C. - In July, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and more than 6,000 volunteers, including plumbers from Price Brothers Inc. and a Charlotte Pipe and Foundry customer, came together here to build a home for the King family. Charlotte Pipe and Foundry PVC DWV pipe and fittings were exclusively used on the new home.

The King family was featured on the TV reality show series because their old house, including a daycare in the refurbished garage, had an emerging mold problem and was showing wear and tear. Once the house was finished, the King family moved into their new, 5,100-sq.ft. two-story house complete with a daycare.

The Price Brothers crew of 25 plumbers completed the rough-in work in just eight hours.

“Our crews have a lot of experience with these types of time-compressed projects, having worked on numerous Habitat for Humanity Building Blitzes over the years,” said Bob Price, owner of Price Brothers Inc. “However, this was a tougher challenge. … Once they set us loose, our guys went to work with a lot of energy and enthusiasm.

“All the subs were working around each other,” continued Price. “From the plumbing standpoint, the house was full of high-end fixtures that can be complicated to install. At one point, we had 14 of our guys working in the master bath at one time. I'm very proud of our crews.”
