WHITE BEAR LAKE, MINN. — Owners of independent plumbing, heating, cooling or electrical businesses can learn more about the business side of their businesses at an event called Money Masters, which is sponsored by best practices group Nexstar. The next Money Masters will be Sept. 8-9 in the Westchester, N.Y., area.

Service contractors can spend two days learning the fundamentals of running a service business from owners of other service businesses, plus they can explore a successful shop in action. The combination of seminar and tour can help owners better understand how and why good business systems lead to happier employees, loyal customers and healthier profits. The service firm that will be opening its doors to the owners attending this program is Frank & Lindy Plumbing & Heating Service Co.

Nexstar is a professional training and development organization that provides information on business practices in management, operations, marketing and finance. Owners attending Money Masters will have an opportunity to explore membership in the organization.

Several members and owners of their own service businesses will be on hand to answer questions. The program will present the organization's methods for implementing fiscal management techniques and how to conduct changes in a company that will be effective, permanent and profitable.

At Frank & Lindy, contractors will have an opportunity to see how this shop has grown by 175% over the last three years while keeping a net profit well above the industry average. Contractors will also see how this owner can afford to provide his employees with full benefits and provide pay scales superior to his competition.

The registration fee of $299 per person includes two days of instruction, course materials, meeting facilities, Friday night hotel and food. Registration fees will be credited in full to attendees choosing to join Nexstar at the event. The seminar is intended for owners, CEOs and company leaders only. Seating is limited to the first 25 companies. Deadline for registration is Aug. 24.
