CINCINNATI, OH TP Mechanical, a leading mechanical contractor, earned top honors for safety for the second year in a row from the Associated General Contractors (AGC). The organization honored the company through its Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA)

The Cincinnati-based company received first place recognition from AGC for the CSEA in the State of Ohio, Specialty Division 700,001 – 1 million work hours. TP Mechanical also received second place recognition by AGC for the CSEA in the nation, Specialty Division 700,001 – 1 million work hours. The company achieved these distinctions even while working more hours and moving up in category level – from 500,001-700,000 hours category last year to the next tier this year.

“We’ve created a company culture here at TP Mechanical that views safety not just as an obligation but as a way of life. Today we’re proud to say we’ve worked more than 3 million hours worked without a lost-time accident. Those numbers and consecutive ABC awards – that’s only possible because of the true safety commitment of our people,” said Bill Riddle, president of TP Mechanical.

CSEA recognizes contractors for their overall safety program. Winners are selected based upon their lost workday and recordable incidence rates; elements within their safety program; level of employees’ and management’s commitment and involvement; new safety programs, procedures and resources; and any unique aspects of the safety program. A selection panel of industry representatives, in its sole discretion, determines whether or not safety programs in a given work hour category deserve an award.

This year, TP Mechanical sent four representatives; Johnnie Warren, Ohio Valley ABC Superintendent of the year, Nick Davis, Rick Absher, and Tim Teepe.  These four individuals presented TP Mechanical’s safety culture to a panel of judges, who in return, asked questions to each representative to find out the true nature of TP Mechanical’s culture.

TP Mechanical has earned numerous awards and accolades for its rigorous safety programs that go above and beyond industry standards while boasting an incredible EMR Rating of 0.63. In 2014, the company earned the ABC Safety Employee of the Year Award, the ABC/OSHA Step Platinum Level Safety Achievement Award, the ABC Step Platinum Award and the BX Ohio Safety Award.
