The Washington area's eighteenth annual "Heat's On - Water's Off" work day will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016, from 6:30 am to 12:30 pm, as member of the MCA of Metro Washington, along with Plumbers Local 5 and Steamfitters Local 602 volunteer their time, expertise and material to help fix up the homes of dozens of elderly residents in Prince George's County.

The volunteers will be providing approximately $80,000 worth of free-of-charge plumbing and heating repairs to approximately 25 homes.

As in the past, the contractors and unions will join with the Prince George's County Department of Family Services and the Prince George's County Fire Department in sponsoring the event.

Volunteers will gather at 6:30 am at the Steamfitters Local 602's Training Facility located at 8509 Ardwick-Ardmore Rd., Landover, MD 20785 to get their assigned home, have breakfast, and then be dispatched to the individual homes at 7:30 am. Lunch will be provided as the volunteers return.

"This is one of our most worthwhile community service activities," said Chuck Noyes, MCAMW President. "Each year we find life-threatening problems and save lives, so it's really exciting that we've been able to do this for eighteen years. The people whose lives we improve are grateful to have the work done, and the volunteers are just as pleased for the chance to make a difference in the community."
