OWATONNA, MN — The eighth annual Safety First! Contractor of the Year Award was presented to Central Plumbing Company, a second generation, family-owned business located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Federated Insurance presented the award on October 10th at the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors Association’s national convention, CONNECT 2014, held in New Orleans.

The annual Safety First! Award recognizes a PHCC contractor who utilizes Federated’s resources to effectively implement sound risk management practices. Hundreds of clients are eligible each year to receive this prestigious honor, but Central Plumbing Company’s vigilant approach to loss control distinguished them from their peers.

Central Plumbing implements a detailed Job Safety program, and employees at every level are proud that their efforts fulfill their customers’ expectations. The company has not had a lost-time accident in four years thanks to weekly safety meetings, thorough employee safety manuals, and resources they find on Federated’s Shield Network.

“We are very conscious of the health and safety of our employees,” stated owners Jay and Lisa Payne. “A healthy, educated employee is a smart, productive employee. We are happy to say that our attention to safety has helped us grow our company by leaps and bounds.”
