GF Piping Systems, GF Machining Solutions open new Irvine facility

Georg Fischer LLC and GF Machining Solutions LLC welcomed more than 150 guests including many city and state officials, at the Grand Opening of their new Irvine facilities.

Irvine, Calif. –Georg Fischer LLC and GF Machining Solutions LLC, both part of Switzerland-based Georg Fischer Ltd., welcomed more than 150 guests including many city and state officials, at the Grand Opening of their new Irvine facilities. The event featured a formal ribbon cutting ceremony followed by refreshments and guided tours, product tradeshow displays, machine demonstrations, keynote speakers and raffle.

The 105,000 sq. ft. Irivne campus includes 23,000 square feet of office, engineering, technical support and training space; 82,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space; and more than 100 employees. The manufacturing/fabrication area is capable of producing 3,000 different kinds of valves assembled to specific customer requirements and can cut large pipe diameters up to 42-inches in size.  

Hosting the official ceremonies were James Jackson, Head of Business Unit Americas for GF Piping Systems; Glynn Fletcher, President GF Machining Solutions Americas; and Pietro Lori, President of GF Piping Systems & Member of the Executive Committee of Georg Fischer in Switzerland.  Local and state dignitaries offering opening remarks included State Assembly Republican Member Donald P. Wagner (68th Assembly District); Cody Eckert, representative from State Republican Senator Mimi Walters’ office (37th District); Irvine Mayor Steven S. Choi, Ph.D.; and from the Chamber of Commerce, Gladys Rojas, Membership Services and Danni Remington, Vice Chair of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Included in the new GF Piping Systems’ facility is a product demonstration room with life-like settings that simulate how the company’s piping systems are used for water, chemical, and refrigeration distribution applications.

Among the life-like settings is a 1,100 gallon saltwater aquarium, custom designed specifically to show how the company’s piping, valves & instruments are used to monitor water clarity, water level, and water turbidity primarily for industrial water treatment applications, with the fish tank being used as a representative example.  Other life-like settings include a grocery store refrigerator case used in the food industry, a high-purity water system for the microelectronics industry, a cruise ship lavatory compartment for the marine industry, and a chemical plant tank for the chemical processing industry. 

GF Machining Solutions showcased the newest technology in 3 and 5Axis High speed and high performance machining centers, the latest EDM and System 3R tooling, and Automation Technology.

 “GF already has a significant U.S. footprint with many locations across the country.  Our new larger facilities will allow us to increase our presence on the west coast by providing additional custom manufacturing and training capabilities,” according to James Jackson, Head of Business Unit Americas.

President GF Machining Solutions Americas, Glynn Fletcher, said, “The new Irvine location will further strengthen customer service.  We want to provide extraordinary service and support for our Western Region customers.  We are investing in the resources to ensure that this is the case. The opening of this superb facility reinforces that commitment.”
