LAS VEGAS — United Association Local 525, here, became Green Mechanical Council’s first UA Local member, on April 2, 2009.

Local 525 has more than 2,300 members and is actively organizing in all areas of the UA industry. Local 525's membership has nearly tripled in the last decade thanks to a handful of full-time organizers.

Local 525 members are required to graduate from the United Association’s certified and accredited Joint Apprenticeship Training Program, which includes a 5-year apprenticeship program that requires an apprentice to have more than 2,000 hours of on-the-job training as well as over 1,200 hours of classroom education. Journeymen refreshing their knowledge, learning new evolvements in the industry and obtaining or renewing licensing and certifications take continuing education courses that are offered throughout the year.
