NEW HAVEN, CONN. - EMCOR Group Inc. has announced that its Tucker Mechanical subsidiary has completed an extensive mechanical services project for the Yale School of Medicine’s Amistad Street building here. The project was the fit-out of a building formerly designed as an office building.  It now accommodates three programs for the university focusing on translational research linking studies to potential cures.

Tucker Mechanical provided all HVAC and plumbing for the 70,000-sq.-ft. building, which was designed for LEED certification, renovated for use as a research laboratory and consists of five floors and a mechanical penthouse. The project involved the base building HVAC and plumbing systems as well as all the lab’s required mechanical systems. The project included a reverse osmosis system, processed water, lab gases, natural gas, steam and condensate and chilled and heated water. It also included sanitary waste and vent, steam hot water heaters, refrigerant piping, vacuum and sewage ejector pump packages, changeover/bypass variable air system, fan coil, cabinet and unit heater, power ventilators, reheat coils, radiant panels and lab fixtures.

“High-tech and sustainable laboratory facilities are essential to the 21st century higher education model.  We are very happy to have worked with one of the nation’s most respected institutions on this important and exciting project that has the potential to so positively and meaningfully impact the lives of so many people in the future,” said Robert Turner, president and CEO of Tucker Mechanical.
