DALLAS — AT&T announced an asset tracking application for businesses to monitor and report the location of their portable assets in field operations with GPS precision. Delivered as software-as-a service (SaaS), TeleNav Asset Tracker from AT&T tracks and provides location-based information on field-based assets such as vehicles, machinery and equipment.

TeleNav Asset Tracker from AT&T is a portable, battery-powered GPS tracking device designed to help an organization reduce theft and vandalism of company property and improve efficiency in the daily use and dispatch of assets. Rugged and water resistant, the device can be easily installed by field personnel, can attach to a wide array of assets with a magnetic mount and offers an emergency button to assist in time-sensitive communications. With no additional software to install, companies can use a Web-based reporting portal to improve visibility into the real-time location and use of their assets.

“TeleNav Asset Tracker from AT&T is an innovative and cost-effective solution for a wide range of customer requirements,” said Igor Glubochansky, director of industry solutions, AT&T Business Solutions. “Whether companies are managing valuable cargo, vehicles, or — like AT&T’s own field operations — generators for business continuity, this solution can deliver fast ROI and increased visibility into location and status of mission-critical operations.”

This announcement with TeleNav is the latest extension of AT&T’s portfolio of location-based mobile business applications. Working with application providers across several vertical industries, AT&T enables end-to-end solutions with a single bill, backed up by mobility applications, consulting and enterprise-grade support.

“We developed TeleNav Asset Tracker to provide organizations of any size, across any industry, with asset location information that management can access from virtually anywhere at any time via the Web,” said Sal Dhanani, co-founder and vice president, products and marketing, for TeleNav. “We’ve worked closely with AT&T to incorporate features such as motion sensors for improved battery life and to use the same, easy-to-use Web-based interface as our existing TeleNav Track workforce and fleet applications.”
