IRVINE, CALIF. — Southland Industries, a nationwide design-build mechanical engineering, construction and service firm, recently announced that Mike McLaughlin, preconstruction leader, will speak at a forum at the AHR Expo in Las Vegas, Jan. 31.
The task group, HVAC Contractors and Design Build Firms, of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers Inc. (ASHRAE) will be hosting the forum The Contractor’s Link to ASHRAE.
McLaughlin is the chair of this task group that provides seminars, forums and workshops at national ASHRAE meetings that focus on improving the knowledge sharing and interaction of both the engineering and contracting members of ASHRAE. At Southland Industries McLaughlin has served in a number of key roles in both engineering and construction, including principal engineer, estimating manager and project manager. McLaughlin’s current focus is on the preconstruction efforts of major design-build and design-assist projects and improving the interaction and knowledge sharing between the engineering, estimating, detailing and construction resources of the company.
The event is designed to inform the contracting community of this group and its intent to champion the concerns of contractors to the ASHRAE membership; solicit feedback from the contractors on the best methods to effectively communicate and provide this service; and gather ideas and topics of significant interest for the task group to pursue.
