PMI Inc. receives safety awards

PITTSBURG, CALIF. — Performance Mechanical Inc., a subsidiary of EMCOR Group Inc., has been named the recipient of two awards — the President’s Safety Award and Excellence in Safety Award — by the Construction Employers’ Association, an organization in Northern California, representing union commercial building contractors.

PITTSBURG, CALIF. — Performance Mechanical Inc., a subsidiary of EMCOR Group Inc., has been named the recipient of two awards — the President’s Safety Award and Excellence in Safety Award — by the the Construction Employers’ Association, an organization in Northern California, representing union commercial building contractors.

The President's Safety Award recognizes firms with a safety program that exceeds the industry standard. PMI received the award for meeting the following criteria: a total incident rate 50% below the industry average, a lost workday incident rate 50% below the industry average, an experience modification rate < 0.70, and demonstration of an active training program that includes the number and names of employees trained in safety programs, such as OSHA 10 Hour and First Aid/CPR.

The Excellence in Safety award was given to the company for meeting the following criteria: a total incident rate 25% below the industry average, a lost workday incident rate 25% below the industry average, an experience modification rate <1.0, a flat or negative experience modification trend, and an active safety training program.

PMI’s commitment to safety is part of a multi-tiered, integrated approach that includes a Zero Accident Program and other initiatives such as the Be There for Life Program, which is designed to educate employees and their families about the importance of safety through use of workplace posters, company newsletters, mailings and a number of other tactics. EMCOR also conducts regional Target Zero Safety Conferences, bringing together industry professionals from its operating companies and partners to share information and successful strategies.
