DOWNERS GROVE, ILL. — The Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Authority of Northern Illinois, UA Plumbers Local 93, Volo, Ill., and UA Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local 501, Aurora, Ill., funded more than 58,000 meals for the Northern Illinois Food Bank at a recent food drive.

“Given the tough economic times we’re living in today, we are especially grateful for the outstanding support of our members and the general public in our effort to help sink hunger year-round in our communities,” said S.J. Peters, executive director of PAMCANI.

PAMCANI donated $5,000 this year, enough for 30,000 meals. While all three sponsoring organizations contributed money and food products, additional food as well as money was donated by individual members and the general public.

“As food and fuel prices continue to climb and jobs are lost at an alarming rate,” said Shannon Thompson, promotions manager at Northern Illinois Food Bank, “many more families are finding it hard to make ends meet. The Northern Illinois Food Bank is extremely grateful to PAMCANI and all participants who recognize that need and are rising to the occasion to help their hungry neighbors.”
