COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. — Murphy Co. Mechanical Contractors & Engineers, St. Louis, has opened a new office in Colorado Springs, Colo. Colorado Springs native Vicki Chase will lead the sales effort. Murphy Co. was ranked as the nation’s 20th largest mechanical contractor in CONTRACTOR’s May 2009 Book of Giants with revenues in excess of $230 million.

“Murphy has been working in Colorado for more than 25 years, and we’ve been interested in Colorado Springs for a long time,” said Ross Forry, service operations manager in Murphy’s Denver office. “We have great relationships with general contractors, architects and facility managers, and we felt the best way to serve them was to open an office in Colorado Springs. The timing was right to enter the market.”

Forry added that the office is focusing on service and maintenance work from a sales standpoint but also is offering construction, design-build, energy solutions, process piping and Murphy’s full complement of mechanical services, including its Quick Response Group, which concentrates on small project work. Current projects include the FedEx data center, U.S. Air Force Academy Hospital, and the recently completed T. Rowe Price building. Murphy was named Commercial Contractor of the Year by CONTRACTOR’s sister publication Contracting Business in 2004.

Murphy has hired Chase as the account manager and is continuing to look for qualified candidates to round out the team. Chase most recently worked for Johnson Controls and has significant experience in HVAC, plumbing, piping and construction. She is a member of the Colorado Springs chapter of the International Facility Management Association.

“Our goal is to provide solutions for area facilities,” said Chase. “Our design-build capabilities enable us to look at heating, air conditioning and plumbing for tenant finishes, new construction, major industrial projects or retrofits, while we also offer service for all makes and models.”

Murphy Co. delivers mechanical solutions to the commercial, industrial, institutional and heavy industrial markets. With corporate offices in St. Louis and Denver, Colo., and regional offices in Fairview Heights, Ill., and Colorado Springs, Colo., the firm offers HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, design-build, process piping, piping fabrication, energy solutions and 24-hour service. Founded in 1907, the firm employs more than 1,000 people nationwide. Additional information is available at www.murphynet.com.
