NORWALK, CONN. - EMCOR Group Inc. has announced that its subsidiary, Design Air Ltd., has been awarded a contract to upgrade the mechanical and electrical systems for Seattle Metro Transit's Central Base Facility and Revenue Processing Center, a 22-acre complex that maintains and houses a fleet of nearly 400 buses.

Design Air will provide new radiant heating, lighting and bus exhaust and HVAC systems for the central base facility's office and shop areas. The company also will provide a new HVAC system and lighting package in the revenue-processing center. In addition, the company will install the center's gas-fired hot water boiler and chiller system; increase the building's natural gas pressure and install associated piping; seismically protect piping and equipment; and provide, modify and repair electrical systems and roofing to accommodate all contract improvements. Because the entire facility will remain in operation throughout the construction period, Design Air also will provide the temporary power, heating, ventilation, materials and equipment necessary to maintain operations at all times.

"This complex and sophisticated project is typical of the work that EMCOR is undertaking at key locations across the country as the need for transportation services and fail-safe infrastructure operations is integral to the growth and livelihood of the country's municipalities," said Ron Hagen, president and CEO of Design Air. "As such, it is imperative that we ensure the dependability and continuity of the technologically advanced, complex, integrated systems necessary to support transportation operations. Transportation is another market sector that EMCOR serves that significantly adds to the quality of life for all of us."
