Atlanta Contractor Helps Angie's List Grant Wounded Soldier's Wish

GreenPlumber Nick Marine, with a material assist from American Standard and a second industry manufacturer, recently joined forces with Angie's List and its Wishmakers program to help a wounded veteran make his mother's life around the house a whole lot easier.

U.S. Army Specialist Walter Lester was the sole member of his five-member squad to survive a recent roadside bomb in Afghanistan, but he was seriously injured and in need of extensive hospital treatment. Since Lester's return stateside, his 50-year-old mother Adele has been making numerous trips from her Atlanta-area home to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., to be with her convalescing son and his wife. The elder Ms. Lester must travel back and forth, in part, because she is also caring for Walter's two small children back home in Atlanta.

"Ms. Lester has spent so much time taking care of others that she hasn't had a chance to take care of little things around the house," according to Angie Hicks, founder of Angie's List. "That's where the Wishmakers program and its group of highly rated service professionals step in."

Marine, a retired U.S. Navy Senior Chief and owner of Marine Plumbing Service Inc. in Atlanta, agreed to donate his services to replace Lester’s kitchen sink, provided by American Standard, and install a garbage disposal, furnished by InSinkErator. "I'm always privileged to help those in need," Marine remarked.
