NORWALK, CONN. -- EMCOR Group Inc. announced that its subsidiary S.A. Comunale Co. Inc. has been awarded a contract for the fire protection systems for expansions to Wayne County Airport in Detroit.

S.A. Comunale installed all underground and above ground fire protection systems for the new 800,000-sq.ft. Gate 26 Terminal, part of the airport’s North Terminal redevelopment project. The project consists of approximately 6,000 sprinkler heads, 3,500 feet of underground water main, 34 wet automatic sprinkler systems, two dry systems, and approximately 15 miles of piping. In addition, the company is installing the fire protection systems for the Transportation Security Administration’s 90,000-sq.ft. expansion at the airport.

“One of EMCOR’s strengths is the ability to provide full ‘Life Safety Solutions,’ including comprehensive ‘Fire Protection Solutions’ that create and support secure environments and protect two of the most important components of any business -- people and physical assets,” said Stephen Comunale, president and CEO of S.A. Comunale. “Bringing these skills to bear at the Wayne County Airport was especially fulfilling because we knew it would protect, and as a result, positively impact the lives of so many people from around the country who travel in and out of the area.”
