• Kirk Alter, professor at Purdue University, will host a seminar titled "Time Management and Goal Setting" May 19 at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J., during the third annual convention and trade show of the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors associations. Alter is program director for the PHCC Educational Foundation management courses and is a member of the foundation's board of governors.
• The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association Safety Excellence Awards Program has announced its winners for 2005. For more than 500,000 man-hours: RHP Mechanical Systems, Reno, Nev.; MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions, Seattle; and J.B. Henderson Construction, Albuquerque, N.M. At 400,001 to 500,000 hours: Poynter Sheet Metal, Bloomington, Ind.; Baker Group, Des Moines, Iowa; and Ruthrauff Inc., McKees Rocks, Pa. At 300,001 to 400,000 hours: CCI Mechanical, Salt Lake City; Straus Systems, Stafford, Texas; and Western Allied Corp., Santa Fe Springs, Calif. At 200,001 to 300,000 hours: Huxtable and Associates, Lawrence, Kan., and Lloyd's Refrigeration and Pahor Air Conditioning, both of Las Vegas. More than 280 firms participated in the program.
• The Gastite division of the Titeflex Corp. will relocate its manufacturing and distribution operations from Springfield, Mass. to Portland, Tenn., which is near Nashville. The corporate headquarters will remain in New England. The move will begin in June, and the new, 154,000-sq.-ft. facility should be fully outfitted by July 2007.
• Elkay Manufacturing Co. has been selected as the 2006 winner of the Crystal Vision Award, an annual honor given in recognition of corporate commitment to improving housing for low-income families and rehabilitating facilities in under-resourced communities. It is presented each year on behalf of the Storehouse of World Vision at the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show. The award will be presented at April 22 at the Crystal Vision Breakfast at McCormick Place in Chicago.
• KSW Inc. has been selected by construction manager Bovis Lend Lease as the HVAC trade manager for the new Cardiovascular Center at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. KSW's work at the project is valued at $17 million and will take 2 1 /2 years to complete. KSW through its wholly owned subsidiary, KSW Mechanical Services, furnishes and installs HVAC systems and process piping systems for institutional, industrial, commercial, high-rise residential and public works projects.
