Michael Moore has joined the staff of Nexstar Inc. as a sales assistant. He will focus on helping owners of independent service providers discover the many advantages of being a member in the business training and development organization.

John Garvelink, past president of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractor’s National Association, recently received a special recognition for his leadership in technician excellence. Garvelink, founding chairman of the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) program, received the 2004 Ted Rees Leadership Awards from the NATE Board of Trustees. The Board created the special award to recognize individuals who have demonstrated exemplary leadership in the pursuit of technician excellence.

During the recent Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors - National Associationconvention in Boston, Brenda Dant, executive director of the Indiana PHCC was named 2004 Association Executives Council Spectrum Award winner. The award honors outstanding achievement as a PHCC association executive. In addition, new officers of the Association Executives Council of PHCC were installed. They are: president: Rodney Jones, Egyptian PHCC, Marion, Ill; president-elect: Brenda Dant, Indiana PHCC, Indianapolis, Ind.; secretary/treasurer: Bev Potts, Illinois PHCC, Springfield, Ill.; permanent treasurer: Linda Lindsten, Oregon PHCC, Clackamas, Ore.

Art Street has joined Profit Strategies as regional consultant for the Northeast. In his new position, Street will sell and market the company’s flat rate pricing systems to regional plumbing and heating professionals. He has 12 years experience in the industry.

Lenox, a manufacturer of power tool accessories, hand tools and band saw blades, has announced the addition of three new staff members to its marketing team: John Sullivan, senior product manager, linear edge division; Sean Boyle, senior product manager for knives and blades; and Reid Cheatham, associate product manager for band saw blades, industrial division.

Members of the Plumbing Manufacturers Institute (PMI) elected John Lauer as president for 2005. Lauer, director of international business development for Sloan Valve Co., succeeds 2004 President, Jim Westdorp of Kohler Co., who will continue to serve as immediate past president. The 2005 PMI Board of Directors will also include: Al Walcutt, president of MPC Plastics Inc. as first vice president; Claude Theisen, president of T & S Brass and Bronze Works, as second vice president; and Ken Martin, senior director of product marketing at Delta Faucet Co., as treasurer.
