CHICAGO — One of the Plumbing Council of Chicagoland’s 450 contractors has been awarded the “Outstanding Performance Award” for the year 2002 for Chicago’s Adaptive Reuse of the Soldier field project. The total cost of the plumbing project was $20 million (“Ready for Bears,” September, pg. 41).

Of the 325 eligible firms, Great Lakes Plumbing & Heating Co. is one of nine chosen to receive the award. Great Lakes was selected based on a positive and proactive approach to the trade coordination process, a willingness to view issues from all sides, assigning necessary staff to bring big project experience and expertise, supervision and a partnering spirit to implement and manage the performance of the heat tracing work.

The Plumbing Council of Chicagoland is a group of licensed, union-trained plumbing contractors whose mission is to serve consumers by putting them in contact with reputable licensed plumbers.

Turner Construction Co. is based in Dallas with more than 45 offices nationwide. Turner completed $6.2 billion of construction in 2002.
