MUCH HAS been said about making one’s own luck. That’s true of the way Bienvenu Brothers Enterprises survived Hurricane Katrina. The company got lucky when the water stopped rising a block away from its shop. But by hauling 250-gal. containers of gasoline for their trucks and generators for six weeks and getting right back to work in the New Orleans area, the contractor made some luck of its own. The hurricane, however, didn’t make the company what its is. Bienvenu Brothers was a well-run business with loyal customers and a great place to work before that. And the cousins, three children of the brothers who are all working in the business, are poised to carry on the Bienvenu way of doing business to the fourth generation.
