AHR roars into New York

New York — It's been 17 years since the AHR Expo has come to the Jacob Javits Convention Center here and for good reason. The last show was one that seemed to have a cloud over it, figuratively and literally. There wasn't a good truck marshaling area and the police reportedly ticketed the exhibitors' semis parked around the building. Getting a cab near the Javits Center was next to impossible. And then there was the blizzard that hit the last day of the show, stranding attendees.

The 2008 show, however, was one of the best AHR Expos ever. The show was mobbed from the time the doors opened and exhibitors reported good traffic through the third, and normally dead, last day.

The show set a new attendance record with 39,298 registered visitors (excluding exhibitors). Records for a Northeast HVACR event also were set with total number of exhibitors of 1,885 and square footage of exhibit space of 363,505-sq.ft.

The show featured plenty of modulating condensing boilers, pumps with ECM motors, solar products and new tools.

We'll have complete coverage of the new boilers, pumps, piping, controls and other products seen at the show in our March issue.
