NEW YORK — The Board of Directors of the Plumbing Foundation, the public affairs and educational arm of the plumbing industry here, has announced that Robert Greenberg of Evergreen Mechanical Corp. has become its new chairman.
Greenberg has more than 24 years of experience in the plumbing industry and has served as president of Evergreen Mechanical since its inception in 2000.  Prior to becoming president of Evergreen Mechanical, Greenberg worked with WDF Inc. and Greene Mechanical.
“I am honored to work with such a tremendous group of professionals to insure that government understands and meets the needs of the plumbing industry and the people of our city,” Greenberg said. “We will continue to meet the challenges that affect our industry so that all New Yorkers can have access to clean water and safe sanitary systems.”
A graduate of Boston University, Greenberg is replacing Richard Farrell, of Day and Night Plumbing and Heating, who stepped down after serving as the foundation’s chairman since 1995.  Farrell led the foundation through many legislative initiatives including a toilet rebate program and the adoption of a new plumbing code.
“I can think of no better person to hand the reigns over to than Robert,” Farrell said.  “Robert has literally grown up in the industry (his father, Herbert, served as chair of the foundation from 1992-94) and is one of the leading advocates in our city on behalf of the plumbing industry.”
In addition, the foundation announced that Terence O’Brien has joined its staff as deputy executive director. A graduate of Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in political science, O’Brien comes to the foundation with a background in public service, having served on the staffs of state Senate Minority Leader Malcolm Smith, Sen. Craig Johnson and Sen. Toby Stavisky. He has also worked on various political campaigns throughout New York state.  Prior to his government service, O’Brien worked in the plumbing industry.
