ASHLAND CITY, TN. — A. O. Smith, a water heater manufacturer and top employer in Middle Tennessee, is supporting Habitat for Humanity’s Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project in Memphis, Tenn., taking place Aug. 21-26.
In partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis, local families will build or improve their homes alongside former President and Mrs. Carter and hundreds of volunteers. Projects during the week will include new home construction, neighborhood beautification and home modifications for seniors. Former President and Mrs. Carter donate their time and voices annually to help Habitat families build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter.

In addition to supporting Habitat’s Carter Work Project, A. O. Smith has supplied water heaters to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville for multiple projects in Middle Tennessee as well as other states in which A. O. Smith has facilities.
For more than three decades, Habitat’s Carter Work Project has engaged volunteers to improve communities across the United States and around the world. In Memphis, hundreds of volunteers will work with 19 homeowner families to build new homes. During the week, volunteers will also conduct 10 beautification projects, including minor repairs, painting and landscaping, as well as six “aging-in-place” projects to enhance accessibility and mobility for seniors. Memphis Habitat will also partner with additional families on aging-in-place and beautification projects leading up to and after the build week. By the end of the year, a total of 99 families will have new or improved places to call home.
