The Memphis Business Journal hosted the sixth Annual CFO of the Year Awards at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis on October 29, 2015 with over 500 members of the Memphis business community in attendance. Jim McMahon, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of American Residential Services, LLC, was selected as CFO of the year within the large private company category of more than $50 million in revenue.
McMahon was nominated along with three other prominent finalists across the Mid-South. As the Memphis Business Journal stated, “The value of the CFO is immeasurable. The responsibilities continue to evolve far beyond focusing on financial statements and capital structure to now include designing and executing strategy and operational performance.”
McMahon oversees several departments at ARS, including accounting, finance, IT, purchasing and internal audit. In addition to these responsibilities, in 2015, he was also instrumental in integrating two of the largest acquisitions in ARS history.
Currently, McMahon is overseeing a plan to roll out a new enterprise software system that will significantly improve access to real-time information both operationally and financially. This system will reinforce what ARS sees as its greatest strength: exceptional service.
Don Karnes, Chief Executive Officer of ARS, stated “Over Jim’s tenure of nine years, revenues at ARS have doubled and ARS is projected to be a billion dollar company in the near future. This makes him an exceptional asset to our team but more importantly he is a great person and a respected partner.” Dave Slott, the President and Chief Operating Officer of ARS, added “I know Jim to be a great father, husband and friend. He conducts himself with the utmost of personal integrity and is genuinely interested in helping others less fortunate by giving of his time, talents, and resources.”
