HERSHEY, PA. — The National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers at its convention in May here awarded the first Oil Heat Cares Cup to its Central Pennsylvania Chapter to recognize the efforts of the oil-heat industry to help people in need.

NAOHSM gave the award in recognition of the charity work done to help a single mother replaceher heating system during the past holiday season ("Oil Heat Cares," February, pg. 21). Shipley Energy of York, Pa., spearheaded the job with the support of CONTRACTOR plumbing columnist Dave Yates of F.W. Behler and Bob Hopkins of Weil-McLain. Judges picked the project over several other jobs completed by NAOHSM chapters during the year.

During the NAOHSM convention, the first board meeting of Oil Heat Cares was held to organize fundraisers. Previous fundraisers have included group seminars conducted by industry experts as well as individual efforts such as the one conducted by Rye Fuel of Portsmouth, N.H., which held a raffle for a TV/DVD player.
