Builders using reclaimed water on construction sites

May 11, 2015
New water conservation mandates are forcing builders to get creative.

Extended drought in the Western states has many builders curtailing a usual practice: spraying construction sites with water to reduce dust and particulate in the air.

Some builders are getting ahead of the problem by looking into the use of reclaimed water. According to Barry Grant, Northern California division president for Meritage Homes, as reported in the Sacramento Business Journal:

“First thing when we contact the water districts is to ask about greywater... Occasionally irrigation water or well water is available, but regulators are beginning to discourage those too."
