CHICAGO — As a result of recent market changes in the way CPVC manufacturers operate, Wheatland Tube, a division of JMC Steel Group, would like to reiterate its position in terms of its product compatibility with CPVC.
Wheatland Tube guarantees its steel pipe is 100% compatible with systems that use only steel pipe in the fire protection system.
Wheatland Tube warrants its fire protection products in accordance with its standard warranty regarding its steel pipe that meets the appropriate specifications.
Recently, certain CPVC manufacturers have discontinued their compatibility certification programs, effective Jan. 1, 2013. As a result, Wheatland Tube will no longer reference these certifications in marketing materials. Additionally, Factory Mutual Inc. has listed Wheatland product as compatible for use in hybrid systems (systems using both steel and CPVC). While Wheatland assures its complete confidence in Factory Mutual, these statements are made by Factory Mutual based on their testing, not by Wheatland Tube.
Wheatland Tube has never warranted compatibility between its steel pipe products and CPVC products. Such a warranty would be impossible, as Wheatland does not now, nor has it ever, had adequate information regarding the composition of parent materials used to manufacture CPVC from various manufacturers.
