Stanford Central Energy Facility
A large university means countless energy components to manage. Those energy components can result in large costs. Recently, Johnson Controls worked with Stanford University to build a new central energy facility (CEF) to cut the school's water use by 15%. It is projected that the university will save 420 million dollars. Stanford will also make substantial progress to meet California’s statewide goal to reduce water use by 25 percent.

A Canadian company, Truck Was Technologies, is designing super-high tech tractor trailer wash systems in which almost all of the water used is recycled. This is many thousands of gallons per vehicle. Fresh water is only used to apply chemicals and on the spot free final rinse.
